Rhodes is safe – restart of tourism

Rhodes is perfect summer destination that combines the most beautiful beaches of mediterranean, white washed villages, ancient sites and welcoming locals. It is a symbol of Greece and Aegean coast. But one of the most popular summer destinations of Europe had the biggest wildfire in its recent history and that affected life of locals and tourists. After succesfull and safe evacuation of affected tourists island of Rhodes and its citizens are working hard on ,,restart,, of tourism.

As tourism is the most important part of Rhodes industry, locals are very eager to show that their beautiful destinations is safe again for international tourists. There is no threats of fire anymore and temperatures are pleasent again. Ancient sites and museums are open, hotels, restaurants and shops are working as usual and tourists can enjoy August and the rest of summer season.

GNTO – national tourism board of Greece together with local authorities of Rhodes is working hard on promotional activities and making new ad-hoc fam and press trips to showcase the beauty of the island. Beside tourism aspects and beauties of Rhodes they want to show that destination is safe again and that tourists are welcome again.

The GNTO also plans to ‘reignite co-advertising programs that were previously interrupted due to the wildfires’ with major tour operators and airlines to ‘bolster promotional efforts and attract tourists back to the island’.No more details have been released so far. “In addition to immediate measures, a long-term projection plan will be developed to ensure the sustainable growth and prosperity of Rhodes’ tourism sector. “This plan will encompass conservation efforts, infrastructural developments, and community engagement to safeguard the island’s future,” the GNTO added.
